MAWSON  LAKES  CONNECTING
STAGE 1  to  STAGE 2.

28 / 29th January 2012

28th January 2012

This weekend the 28th & 29th January 2012 is the time of joining the two stages of the Gawler Line Upgrade Stage-1 and Stage-2 together at Mawson Lakes Railway Station with the first Stage 1 from Adelaide Railway Station to Mawson Lakes Railway Station getting done in 2010, and Stage 2 between Mawson Lakes Railway Station to Gawler Central Railway Station still in progress which started on 18th September 2011.

I couldn’t get into the Greenfield Railway Station today 28th which is closed off with all the track machinery parked there as well as the Road-Rail-Ballast-Train for joining the two stages of the Gawler Line Upgrade together.

At the Mawson Lakes Railway Station there’s heavy machinery inside the station's two platforms cleaning out the old rail base and track all cordoned off as a construction site, so it was a walk along Elder Smith Drive to the top of the bridge for a location to get these photo’s of Mawson Lakes Railway Station being cleaned out today with the Platform surfaces getting a clean as well.

Morning

These next photo’s were taken next day 29th January 2012 from 9 a.m on top of the Mawson Lakes Bridge showing a machine placing the rail lengths in place on the down Gawler track, you can see that overnight they have put in the new ballast rail base and rolled and compacted and have placed in the cement sleepers with night lights stationed around with this job needing to be completed over this weekend for the Monday Rail Service from Adelaide. I also took picture of the Track Machines ( Tamper – Ballast Regulator ) and the two Road-Rail-Ballast-Train parked at the Greenfields Railway Station in readiness to complete the rejoining of the two stages of the Gawler Line Upgrade at Mawson Lakes .
