 19th - 25th September 2011 - 6th November

Was very eager to see what work has happen in the first week of the Gawler Line Upgrade , last week I had time to visit the Mawson Lakes Station on the first day of the upgrade on the 18/09/2011 with two small moulds of ballast over the two broad gauge tracks at the 15k marker behind two square cross signs signalling the start of track work just to the northern end of the Mawson Lakes Station. This is where I started today before working my way up the track a week after my last visit at the same spot at the start of track work the Rail Tracks has been remove in the first week, next stop was the Chidda Railway Station were I saw two piles of wooden sleepers there just before the Salisbury Railway Station.
Afterwards I visited the Salisbury Railway Station which I started looking at the Park Tce Crossing before walking alone on the platform, the progress of the Gawler Line Upgrade at Salisbury is the rail has been lifted with the old sleepers still remaining with the track work machines parked just south of the Park Tce Crossing at the northern end of the Salisbury Station platform. The rail tracks remain this is where the track-work got to in the first week of the Gawler Line Upgrade . Next Stop Elizabeth Railway Station which is all fenced off as a construction site which made it hard to get a good shot before this station gets demolishes and a new station gets build in it’s place. This is one of two new stations getting built as part of the Gawler Line Upgrade the other being Munno Para Railway Station .

Had a look at the Greenfield Railway Station this evening starting just before 7pm after the workmen had gone home. What you can see on Platform 1 side of the Greenfields Railway Station has been excavated below the white vertical marks against the platform side.
It’s like a ditch between the platform and the standard gauge track . Also you can see the horizontal earth marks against the platform where the ground height was, very similar height to the standard gauge track height before getting excavated.
Next day looked at Parafield and Parafield Gardens track cleaned out.

AM

This morning (Saturday) did a short trip to check how far the line has been taken up after Salisbury Railway Station.  First stop Nurlutta Railway Station, this station has a Up Platform on the Northern side of Commercial Road with a Down Platform on the Southern side of Commercial Road Salisbury, the line has been lifted at this point at Nurlutta Railway Station with a pile of Wooden Sleepers to the Northern Platform side of the platform.
Next Station up the Line is Elizabeth South Railway Station which is fenced off, and is in a mess with graffiti all around the side of the Platform, with it’s shelters torn down reckoning this station is to get the new station shelters as part of the Gawler Line Upgrade line has been lifted here.

This afternoon (Saturday) to see to what point the line has been taken up to, when I arrived at Smithfield Railway Station I found the line has been taken up to this point only inside two weeks from the commencement of the Gawler Line Upgrade. The first stop Elizabeth just to the north of the Elizabeth Station to get an elevated view of the rail corridor to the south and north on Winterslow Road Bridge, looking to the south you can see the Elizabeth Railway Station which is fenced off as a construction site and not to easy to get a good photo . Second stop Womma Railway Station here at the Womma Road Crossing northern side is a hugh mound of ballast adjacent the railway corridor with a good size pile of wooden sleepers on the rail corridor. Next stop the Broadmeadows Railway Station this station new cement sleepers dropped off in the station car parking area . Final Stop Smithfield Railway Station this is as far the Rail Track has been removed just pass the Anderson Walk Rail Crossing Smithfield.

 9th October 2011

Last Weekend seeing the rail tracks has been taken up to as far as the Smithfield Railway Station with the Gawler Line upgrade, I began today's pictures from the Munno Para Railway Station knowing that in the last week the Rail Track would’ve been lifted to this point.
The Gawler Line Rail Tracks have been completely removed from the Smithfield Railway Station to the Tambelin Railway Station in the last week between the 2nd to the 9th October 2011 with the track machines parked at the Tambelin Railway Station under security.
From the Tambelin Railway Station the Gawler Line track remains though the Evanston Railway Station until the Gawler Railway Station platform 2 and 3 were the rail track has been taken up at this Station platforms, at the northern station end at the Gawler Railway Station the pedestrian track crossing the rail tracks still remains to the Gawler Central Railway Station .

Two weeks since my last visit to the Gawler Railway Station on the 27th of October 2011 two main things have occurred. REMOVING THE OLD TRACKAGE
GAWLER  TO  GAWLER  CENTRAL

I went to Gawler to see how thing are progressing with the Gawler Line upgrade since my last visit on Sunday 9/10/11 just 4 days ago. As anticipated the rail track between Tambelin Railway Station and Evanston Railway Station has been ripped up now, and through to Gawler as well.
Also the remaining track from Gawler Railway Station to Gawler Central Railway Station has been ripped up also since last Sunday 4 days ago, I only thought I would be taken photo’s of track machine being on a weekday but they have ripped up all the rail track to Gawler Central from Tambelin Railway station inside 4 days, so I took shots of Gawler Oval and Gawler Central Railway Stations so one can get an exact timing when all the rail track between Mawson Lakes to Gawler Central Stations has been completely removed.
