UPDATES  BELOW  ON  THIS  SECOND  PAGE.



The Goodwood Junction upgrade project building a rail underpass that separates freight and public transport trains, removing the need for trains on either track to stop and give way.  The South Australian Government has committed $110 million to separate freight and passenger services at Goodwood. Itís the first stage of a joint State and Federal government funded $443 million project (which includes future work at Torrens Junction) that will divert the Noarlunga passenger line beneath the freight line at Goodwood.

UPDATE
 28th July 2013

Goodwood RWS Platform-3 is opened to the public now for the Belair Line service which commenced a week ago on Saturday 20/07/2013. Today Sunday 28/07/2013 a visit to the station to view the Goodwood Junction underpass entrance, which is a good location to see the Northern entrance to the underpass. Luckily a SG grain train passed through Goodwood while there.

UPDATE
 11th August 2013

Catenary Poles can now be seen from each side of the Goodwood junction underpass with new rail tracks at the northern entrance of the Goodwood Junction underpass. Heritage H Type Tram 351 first entering service December 16th 1929 was passing by on the Tram overpass bridge while at the Goodwood Railway Station platform-3. The heritage H Type Tram 351 is running every Sunday in August 2013 from the Entertainment Centre to Glenelg - leaving Glenelg at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and Entertainment Centre at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Goodwood junction underpass from the Fairfax Avenue pedestrian crossing to obtain any vision of the Seaford Line
going into the underpass being on a bend, one cannot take pictures of the actual underpass itself from this end like
one can from the northern end at the Goodwood Railway Station. Note newly erected Catenary Poles have been
installed at this side of the Goodwood  underpass at the Seaford Line end looking North East.

UPDATE
 31st August 2013

At Goodwood Railway Station platform-3 to see the Northern entrance of the Goodwood Junction underpass which has a couple of new Catenary Poles since last visited. I noticed work on the Victoria Street level crossing with new asphalt being laid over the Belair and Standard Gauge Freight Lines.
The level crossing hasn't any boom gates and crossing lights at this stage. The Millswood Loop the new signals to the eastern edge of the loop has been upgraded onto signal towers in the last Month.

UPDATE
 5th October 2013

With the opening of the new level crossing at Victoria Street to traffic on Wednesday 2nd of October 2013, the first time in over 9 months marks the near completion of the Goodwood Junction upgrade.
Next stage I anticipant is to see the diesel railcars running through the underpass late 2013.

The Belair Line service closed each weekend and overnight between the 28th of September 2013 to the 15th of December2013 for installing Gantries part of the electrification work on the Seaford Line from Goodwood Railway Station to the new Wayville RWS

UPDATE
 10th November 2013

Three weeks since the last visit to the Goodwood junction underpass. I came across a community event for the locals run by DPTI - Department of Plan Transport and Infrastructure with information on Rail Revitalisation projects currently in work mainly the Electrification of the Seaford and Tonsley lines along with Goodwood junction upgrade,  Marion Station underpass, Showground Station and track upgrades. This community event ran next to the Goodwood Railway Station by the Unley Swimming Centre also had free Goodwood junction underpass train rides for the public from platform-2 at the Goodwood RWS to just pass the Fairfax Avenue pedestrian crossing, a return run every 30 minutes in Diesel railcars 3013-3019-3016. The underpass has changed with a new border above along Victoria St crossing at the northern entrance.

With no suburban passenger rail services on the Noarlunga and Belair lines on this visit on Sunday , workmen were busy preparing the Goodwood underpass for the installation of the overhead wires  as part of the electrification of the new Seaford line with the electrification done up to the Emerson crossing two stations down.

The Goodwood junction underpass is fully completed now with the Noarlunga line passengers services resumed at the start of December 2013 with no weekend services.
This weekend on Australia Day Belair and Noarlunga line services were running.
