The Yurgo Railway Station is all original take-out shed, platform and sign. The section car shed was located at Karoonda Railway Station, from Yurgo Railway Station c1960. The pull trike last had service at the Nairne Railway Station signal lamps. The motorised Section Car was used on the Eyre Peninsula network originally. Like the Water Column, all are typical of units used throughout the local rail system.

KAROONDA.
18th May 2010

A farming district in the SA mallee can be justly proud of its rail heritage and so, the images below depict how important they are to their district and have preserved not only their rail heritage, but items including buildings and farm implements; their ‘centrepiece’ being a1910 Moline Tractor. My late brother, Brenton, alerted me of the existence of rail items at Karoonda and tried in vane to describe their Brill #51 to me. It was not until I saw his collection of images that I realised what he had seen and how impressed he had been with the Karoonda collection; the Brill, a ‘centrepiece’ rail item in as far as heritage to a rail buff is concerned. It was not until a month or so later that a grain train worked to Karoonda as Train No 1311 and returned as 3112. A visit to Karoonda with a fellow rail enthusiast realised the grain train and the Karoonda Rail Museum and indeed made for a most enjoyable day. Karoonda can be and are indeed justly proud of their rail heritage and farming collection. Well done Karoonda.
