The Official Launch Run of the Bluebird Kestrel 257 railcar draw a crowd of officially invited guest and visitors to the National Rail Museum Saturday 9th of March 2013 at 11.30 a.m .

Onkaparinga was built in 1911, comprises nine compartments each with two fold up lateral sleeping berths, a folding wash basin and cloths handing cupboards, with a smoking saloon at each end of the car known as the Gentleman's lounge and was condemned in October 1972, sold to Marbury School Aldgate, then donated to the National Rail Museum in October 1988. The other Overland carriage in the replica Overland run by the museum on the Launch of the Onkaparinga and Overland Weekend is Second Class Sitting Car BE42 was built at Islington Workshops and was issued to traffic on 29th of October 1923, this carriage carried 72 second class sitting passengers and was condemned 16th October 1974 and entered the museum on 16th April 1975.

RAILWAY  ANTIQUES  &  MEMORABILIA  SALE
Sixth Month

Arriving at the National Rail Museum I was surprised with the number of people queuing in the carpark just after the 10am opening time and with no car parking space left to park the car in the museum's carpark, I had to park the car on a street near by.
Once inside the Museum there was a crowd checking out all the rail artifact's ranging from rail magazines to station sign's. I heard that people were out in the museum's carpark as early as 7am. Outside Broad Gauge Diesel Electric shunting Engine 515 coupled to Narrow Gauge carriage 144 and Brakevan 7553 was running rides through the Commonwealth Pavilion to the Aviation Museum where the Narrow Gauge section stopped, then returned.
The "Peninsula Pioneer Revisited" official book launch started at 1pm with speeches from NRM Chairman Barry Marshall and the book's author Peter Knife, with book signings afterwards for book purchaser's.
