MINATURE  AND  MODEL  RAILWAY  WEEKEND
Ninth Month

The first Miniature and Model Railway Show at the National Railway Museum and the Museum's September 50th Anniversary Event, had 18 miniature and model displays with 3 Model Railway Shops for the visitors. Steam Engine Peronne with the Diesel Redhen Railcars were available for Drivers Experience along for rides as well. It was very interesting to see real to life Engines, Carriages, Freight Wagons, Stations and Yard layouts in miniature, with experiencing first hand the Model Railway scene. Some of the local station layouts included Bridgewater, Strathalbyn, and Stewarts on the Kingston Line, with a couple of English station layouts on display too.

RETURN  OF  THE  REDHENS  WEEKEND
Twelfth Month

The Return of the Redhens Weekend a much anticipated event which for the first time since 2006 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Port Adelaide line that Redhen railcars 321-400 has entered main line for passengers runs between the museum's Jacketts siding and the Adelaide Railway Station platform-8.
The special Redhen passenger train ran on the hour from 10 am to 4 pm at Jacketts siding in the museum and from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm at Adelaide Railway Station platform 8 on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December 2013. There was also a members special train on Saturday evening departing Jacketts at 6 pm returning by 7 pm for a meal and drinks in the museum's goods shed.
The Redhen train rides were well patronised over the weekend, with an air of excitement and joy on the two rides I went on, the first one at 10 am Saturday and the members special at 6 pm .

The Return of the Redhens Weekend the final 50th anniversary event in 2013 was made possible by the hard working volunteers (members) and NRM Board, with the planning starting back as far as two years ago on the events through 2013. It's been an absolute pleasure to have attended all the 50th Anniversary events this year marking the National Rail Museum 50 years starting in 1963 at Mile End - moving to Port Adelaide current site in 1988 to 2013 in it's 50th year, hoping these photo's serve as a good record of the twelve NRM 50th Anniversary events into the future .
